Treasury proposes dropping Native American board attestation from CDFI annual report
Department of the TreasuryCommunity Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund)ConsultationSep 30, 2026
Check: Native-serving Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) can comment until 2026-11-30 on a proposal to remove the Native American target market accountability attestation from the annual certification report.
What it does
Certified CDFIs file an Annual Certification and Data Collection Report (ACR) with the CDFI Fund through AMIS. The proposal would eliminate the Accountability section and the Native American target market (TM) accountability attestation, which tied accountability to board representation. Accountability would instead be measured through activity in each target market (the population or area a CDFI is certified to serve).
Why it matters for tribal funding
Tribes eligible. Tribes or Native organizations are among those who can apply or are covered, alongside others.
Who it covers: Native nonprofits.
What to do next
- Submit any comments by 2026-11-30 at regulations.gov under CDFI-2026-0199.
- Check whether your CDFI's current ACR includes the Native American TM accountability attestation and note what would change under the proposal.
