Frequently Asked Questions

Using GrantsPath

How do Fit Scores work?

When you open a grant's detail page, GrantsPath generates a Fit Score (0–100). The score evaluates your tribal profile against eligibility criteria, jurisdiction, focus areas, and compliance signals — and uses AI analysis to catch nuances that simple keyword matching would miss. Green (80+) means excellent match, yellow (60–79) is a good match, red (below 60) is a partial match. Each score includes a 'Why This Grant Fits' explanation. Requires Researcher tier or above.

How do I search for grants?

Use the Search page to type a question or enter keywords. GrantsPath auto-detects whether to use natural language or keyword matching, and you can lock to Keyword mode with the search mode dropdown. Filter by source (federal or state), agency, funding amount, tribal eligibility, and deadline. Open any grant's detail page to generate a Fit Score, start a prep sheet, or track the application.

Can I bookmark grants?

Yes. Click the bookmark icon on any grant to save it. Visit the Bookmarks page to see all your saved grants. Separately, you can save a natural-language search as a 'briefing' — a snapshot of search results you can revisit or overlay on your calendar to spot deadline patterns.

How does the Calendar feature work?

The Calendar shows a monthly view of your tracked application deadlines (color-coded by status), personal events you create, and briefing watchlist overlays from your saved searches. Grants affected by executive orders show risk markers. The calendar also suggests milestones like 'Final Narrative Review' (3 days before deadline) for at-risk grants, and lists unscheduled or continuous grants in a sidebar.

What is the Executive Order Impact Analysis?

When a grant may be affected by a recent presidential directive, the grant detail page shows an Executive Orders card with a risk level (1–10), matched terms from the executive order, and an explanation of the potential impact. This helps you anticipate changes in funding priorities before investing time in an application. Visit the Executive Orders Impact page at /executive-orders-impact for a live view of current policy signals.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From a grant's detail page you can export a Grant Summary PDF. Sovereign tier and above can generate a Council Summary PDF — a formatted report with grant details, fit score, and tribal authority information designed for sharing with leadership. You can also export SF-424 form data from prep sheets.

How often is grant data updated?

We regularly import grant data from Grants.gov (federal) and 15 state portals (AK, AZ, CA, ID, MN, MT, NC, ND, NM, OK, OR, SD, TX, WA, WI). Grants are flagged for tribal eligibility automatically. Federal data syncs from Grants.gov on a recurring schedule, and state portals are updated as new opportunities are published.

What tiers include which features?

Explorer (free) includes grant search, bookmarks, and basic application tracking. Researcher adds AI Fit Scores, unlimited search, and briefing dossiers. Professional adds AI Proposal Generation and up to 3 users. Sovereign adds the Sovereignty Shield location verification, 7-year Vault record keeping, and SF-424 form assistance. Nation adds multi-tribe management and consortium tools with MOU templates. See the Pricing page at /pricing for full details.

Account & Profile

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in page, click 'Forgot password?' and follow the instructions. You'll receive an email with a link to create a new password.

Is GrantsPath single-user or multi-user?

Most plans are single-user — each person has their own account and workspace for bookmarks, tracked applications, and prep sheets. The Nation tier adds multi-tribe management with team roles (Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer), so multiple staff members can collaborate within a shared workspace.

How do I manage my profile?

Open Profile from the sidebar. Your profile has five sections: Personal Information, Tribal Affiliation (with 574 Registry verification), Compliance Status, Grant Preferences, and Additional Details. The more you complete — especially tribal verification and focus areas — the more accurate your Fit Scores will be.
