VA opens 60-day comment period on State Veterans Homes grant application forms

Department of Veterans AffairsVeterans Health AdministrationConsultationOct 20, 2026

Check: VA is asking for public comment by 2026-12-21 on the application forms that tribal governments and states must file for State Veterans Homes construction and acquisition grants.

What it does

The State Veterans Homes Construction & Acquisition Program (SVHCGP) is run by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), which requires federal agencies to get public comment and federal approval before collecting information, VA is revising the approved set of application forms (OMB Control No. 2900-0661). The notice says federally recognized tribes are eligible applicants, and it reports a decrease in estimated annual responses and burden hours. Tribal grants offices considering an SVHCGP application should check the forms before the closes.

Why it matters for tribal funding

Tribes eligible. Tribes or Native organizations are among those who can apply or are covered, alongside others.

Who it covers: Tribal governments.

What to do next

  1. Submit any comments by 2026-12-21 through www.regulations.gov, referencing OMB Control No. 2900-0661.
  2. Review VA Forms 10-0388-1 through 10-0388-13 against the current application requirements before any SVHCGP submission.
