What SF-424 Is

The SF-424 (and related forms like SF-424A for budgets and SF-424B for assurances) are standard federal application forms required for most grants submitted through Grants.gov. The NOFO for each grant specifies which SF-424 variants you need.

    Document Checklist

    Tips Before Submission

  • Use the NOFO's instructions as the source of truth for which SF-424 variants are required — not every grant uses the same set
  • Make sure your organization name and address exactly match what's in SAM.gov
  • Validate attachments and file naming rules (Grants.gov enforces them)
  • Keep a dated copy of the final submitted forms and attachments for your records
